February 2012: Sigma Wireless nominated for International Tetra Award

Sigma Wireless is pleased to announce that our ComAlerter Tetra Messaging System has been shortlisted for the innovation Award in the inaugural International Tetra Awards 2012.

A collaboration between the TETRA + Critical Communications Association (TCCA) and TETRA Today magazine, the awards recognize excellence in the field of TETRA radio communications.

Tony Boyle, CEO of Sigma Wireless Group said “We are absolutely delighted to have been shortlisted for the Innovation Award against very strong International competition. Sigma Wireless has always seen innovation as the key to success and our ability to differentiate our business. We are very please to have developed this product with our partner Isle Systems.

The judges reported that the competition was fierce and to an exceptionally high standard. Winners will be announced at the awards ceremony which takes place on 16 March at the Savoy Hotel, London.

May 2011: Sigma Wireless Launch New Emergency Personal Communications System brand name ComAlerter at the TETRA World Congress in Budapest.

The ComAlerter System is intended to provide Man-Down and Two-Way Text paging to response personnel in the public safety market. The system has been designed in conjunction with Isle Systems and will be manufactured in Ireland.

2011 : Angola LNG Trunked Radio Requirement

Sigma Wireless has completed the build, testing and commissioning of a 1327 Trunked radio network for the LNG (Liquefied natural gas) project in Angola. Sigma Wireless was contracted by a strategic partner from the oil and Gas industry, the system build and FAT testing was completed at Sigma’s Dublin facility and was then transported to site in Angola,  Sigma then dispatched engineering resources to the Angolan LNG site and then completed the installation, commissioning and site testing. “Sigma’s experience and reputation as a premium system integrator with unrivalled RF experience has benefited our international position in a very positive way, we have grown our international portfolio and have deployed systems as far away as China, Angola, Kosovo, Qatar and the Seychelles.

November 2010 : DAA Terminal 2

Sigma Wireless Communications has recently delivered the Radio communications requirement at the brand new state of the art Terminal two at Dublin airport. Sigma was contracted by SITA to design and supply the RF system within the new terminal. The terminal brought many challenges given its design and structure, Sigma with over 30 years of experience as a systems integrator and with unique RF design skills delivered a comprehensive radio system offering a guaranteed service with complete coverage. Sigma Wireless has a 20 year relationship with the DAA as the provider of the original and current 1327 Trunked radio network.

October 2010 : Limerick Tunnel

Sigma Wireless Communications has successfully completed the implementation of the leaky feeder radio rebroadcast requirement at the Limerick tunnel. Sigma Wireless was contracted by Strabag to design and implement this critical radio rebroadcast package. The system designed by Sigma Wireless rebroadcasts the National Tetra digital radio spectrum as well as the conventional UHF and VHF all of which are critical communication requirements for the emergency services. The rebroadcast system also supports the FM and cellular bands allowing for a seamless use of services for the drivers of all vehicles using the tunnel on route to their destinations. Sigma Wireless also designed and implemented the rebroadcast system at the Dublin Port Tunnel in 2008, combined the Limerick Tunnel and Dublin Port Tunnel project value for Sigma Wireless was in excess of €3,000.000.00
